If you point out that a controversial phenomenon is very dependent on social elements, you also invite discussions whether something should be fine-tuned in our society to influence it, which turns into a political issue.
The phenomenon of men having sex relationships with other men in male only environments (jail, army) existed before. They reverted to heterosexual relationships when they left the environment and would not call themselves "bi". It is opposite side of it - clearly having something out of same sex relation did not made them bi, because it would be shameful.
"Female" is primarily a scientific or biological term that refers to sex, not gender. When used as a noun for humans, it reduces women to their reproductive capabilities and strips away their individuality and humanity, making them seem less than fully human or equivalent to animals. For example, "female" can refer to any species, while "woman" specifically refers to human beings.
Here it's clearly being used in a derogatory, dismissive sense.
