To clarify, by "political ideals" you mean thinking gay people don't deserve the rights straight people do, right?

He supported prop 8, which was about same-sex marriage. It passed in California; the majority of voters agreed with Eich.

I disagree with Eich, and opposed the proposition, but his position was the normal one at the time.
