I pay for OpenAI Pro but this is a clear no for me. I just don't get enough value out of Gemini to justify a bump from $20 / month to $250.

If they really want to win they should undercut OpenAI and convince people to switch. For $100 / month I'd downgrade my OpenAI Pro subscription and switch to Gemini Ultra.

It does look like it comes with a few other perks that would normally cost a bunch too, specifically, 30TB of Google drive storage

It’s the modern day Comcast Triple Play: internet, cable, and phone

Except Comcast didn't have a reputation for shutting down services left and right. How much are you willing to bet that one of those services in that bundle is discontinued within a year?

You're coming awfully close to defending Comcast haha. GP's point is more that they're Comcast-like, director level incentives have become the primary focus of the company such that they will ram down dark patterns for short term profit at the cost of long term growth and product excellence - just as Comcast has done for the last two decades.

Throwing the baby out with the bathwater, Google crumbles but a few more vacation homes get purchased and a larger inheritance is built up for the iPad-kid progeny of the Google management class.
