New-hire air traffic controllers must be under age of 31

I love how the government is adding new requirements to positions they’re struggling to hire for. Is this to create artificial scarcity and force privatization?

Requiring a candidate be under 31 years old is not new. I tried to apply for this position 5 years ago, but stopped when I discovered I was 6 months too late.

It’s to increase the service time of the human trained and slotted into work, to increase capacity and ROI in the process to onboard.
