UK is speed-running the Orwellian police state. They're already arresting people for Tweets, and logging "non-crime hate incidents" on your record, available to prospective employers.

They have been speed-running for decades. Remember "anti-social behaviour orders"? Those were introduced in 1998.

I think a better Orwell reference for this isn't 1984 though but rather https://www.orwellfoundation.com/the-orwell-foundation/orwel.... This is the essay that was originally meant as a preface to Animal Farm - and, ironically, was itself censored (by publishers).
