Public workers are more positively impactful to the operation of society than many engineers working in digital widget factories. Bureaucracy limits potential, for good reason, but doing something is still more than nothing.

Except that the public sector workers are being paid for by the engineers working in the digital widget factories. So the core of the "positive" impact is coming from private industry. Maybe it is morally superior in the end to work at a digital widget factory so that others can chill and work in the public sector.
