It's amazing to me what people tolerate, just because it doesn't seem like a human is doing it to us. If a door-to-door salesman was told to do the equivalent of this stuff, they'd be worried about being punched in the face.
The logic here is that it's you who come to visit, not them. But the next issue is that everyone agrees it's not normal for a private service either, even if it's free, and it should be disallowed. But laws don't work like that. We simply have no law systems that could manage that, nowhere on this planet.
If the world was a nightclub, the tech industry would be a creepy guy who goes up to everyone and says "You're now dating me. [Accept or Try Again Later]"
