but from the relatively small amounts of money involved I conclude that's not where the real action is.

Honestly Senator Coons is a good guy acting in his constituents’ interest, and this is not based on campaign donations from corporations or patent trolls. He represents a small district home to a big pharmaceutical company, and that is also a center for patent litigation.
