Also when thieves or muggers rob someone, the first thing they do is turn on Airplane Mode or force power-off.

WHY the hell don't those actions require a passcode or bio authentication??

FYI: Everyone should disable control center from the Lock Screen to prevent that attack (airplane mode activation while locked).

iPhones are still trackable while powered off, at least for a while.
