This doesn't work for me on Ubuntu, `scan` doesn't find the ring and even if I use the address from the app, it still fails to connect.

I ran into the same issue. This is the equivalent of doing a rain dance, but after connecting the ring to the official app, and then disconnecting it, my laptop's Bluetooth was able to find it.
