Yes, it is. I don't understand the cult of VLC to be honest. There are better media players, at least on Windows.

I do use MPC-HC on Windows, but it's no longer under development :'( IIRC it can't do AV1.

There is a fork that's still under development [1], or you can use mpc-be [2].
