I kinda glossed over the list of suggestions on addressing friction until I got to the games and checklists items. I think that’s really the only way to deal with the moving target that is developing software: regular checkins to make sure things work the way you think they will. The other points are all susceptible to the element of surprise when something inevitably goes wrong. You have to have practiced and internalized the most important parts of your process (shipping and root cause analysis) in order to adapt and respond.
