What if complex IT stacks didn't exist primarily to solve problems, but to create niche domains in which Average Redditors can lord their knowledge over everyone else?

Then they would be replaced, because Average Redditors have very little power when it comes down to it. The real problem with bad but popular tech stacks is that they do exist to solve problems - just not ours. I want everything to be compatible with everything else; hardware manufacturers want oligopoly rents. I like languages that let me be as productive as possible; employers like languages that let as much of their candidate pool as possible be productive enough. So it goes.
