In unrelated news, macOS is now the 2nd most popular gaming platform - after iOS.

Now that you can run iOS apps on it.

What makes you think iOS is the most popular gaming platform?

Popular? Are you really thinking macOS is now the 2nd most popular gaming platform because it can run iOS apps?

Isn't that why Linux surpasses Mac on Steam gamers because of the Steam Deck? It's the same difference.

Who is playing iOS apps on their macOS computer just because they can. Who the heck wants that gaming experience.

Who is using Linux desktop on a Steam Deck just because they can? Who the heck wants that desktop experience.

looked up: video game industry is $190bn and lootbox is $19bn market. iOS therefore cannot be the most popular platform, despite it possibly with highest mental share for some.

You don't just look at money, you also look at time spent. But even when it comes to money, https://sea.mashable.com/tech-1/20432/60-of-entire-gaming-ma...

Mobile gaming is nearly double the rest of gaming market combined.

However, it looks like Android gets more money there: https://www.businessofapps.com/data/mobile-games-revenue/

Sounds like you are shitposting, but the Steam Deck has one of the best price-perf ratios available.

When my laptop motherboard died, I extracted the SSD, and I now boot it up on my deck, on the same docking station. It's snappier than before!

Of course, it's less portable. The SD desperately needs a second USB port for that kind of setup. I'd also need a Bluetooth keyboard for portability.

Even the standard "desktop mode" interface is serviceable. I've got some real work™ done with it.

I would be more interested in something like median money and time spent.

I suspect mobile gaming is dominated by a long tail of whales, but what do I know. Gaming on phones never really appealed to me.

It’s not. Steam Deck is for all intents and purposes real Linux device.

I don't own any Apple product so I might be wrong, but wouldn't it be highly impractical to run touch-screen oriented app/game on a device with keyboard/mouse input?

Also while we at it, imma include Android into the fold and curb stomp every other OS.

>Android doesn't count as deskt-

Pair it with keyboard and mouse, plug an external monitor, use [Smart Dock](https://github.com/axel358/smartdock) if you need to, Voilà!
