I am confused on the new macbook pro vs macbook air, they have tme same specs, are we simply choosing the form?

We don’t know yet, there could be some binning involved.

They could be identical, and the choice is just different thermal envelopes. Active vs passive cooling can make a huge difference for some work loads.
