Money is the king. Seriously there are people that prefer their own familiar environment but a logical explanation is if you can get significantly more money elsewhere why not to go ?
After all you can retire early and live wherever you want.
You would be surprised how many brilliant engineers work have small coffee shops around the world not caring about money anymore.
