Not surprised. Seems that as of late the biggest use of Ubuntu is as a container base.

If there is one thing Microsoft has always delivered, it is strong developer tools. And this is another case, as developers now don't have to fiddle with a VM to get a Ubuntu test environment going before stuffing things into a container.

Every embrace of Linux Microsoft has been doing as of late can be traced back to their Azure cloud service.
