For all of its shortcomings, I still would pick x86 over mips (which is truly horrendous, or maybe it's just once you go cisc you never take the risc) any day of week

Nothing in this paper has anything to do with the ISA.

I know. But I'm saying that everyone can flame on it as much as anyone wants, but in the end everyone will end up coming back to it.

But in practice if you deal with x86 even AMD isn't that much better.
